NICK IS HOME IN TEXAS!!!!!!!  I flew out last Saturday in a big rush to meet him in San Diego, he lost weight and I didnt even recognize him at first!  It was soooooooo good to see him!  You really dont appreciate things until they are taken away from you!  Just to have him there to hug me was the best feeling ever!  So Nick's injury isnt too bad which is good!  The Doc just said that time and therapy would bring back the feeling in his thumb and pointer finger!  It was so hard to not see him and not know too much about the injuries!  He was also hit by so shrapnel in the face which left some scars but you really cant see them.  He was so lucky!  A bigger piece when into his jacket that is armored.  The main thing is he is here and ok!  Oh and he will be here in texas for hopefully 3 months!  YAY!!Well I have to get things done so that I can go back to see Nick!  I will have more updates soon!

Love,

We finally got an update on what is going on with Nick.  He called me late last night after he got out of a meeting with the doctor and the 1st sgt.  In order for him to receive credit for this deployment, he has to be in country for 90 days. So he took the option to stay until October 5th.  On October 5th they will fly him to multiple bases to see some other doctors and will eventually arrive in Germany where he will get an MRI. Depending on the results they decide where to go next!  They could do surgery in Germany if the physicians is comfort with performing it and if not they will probably send him to San Diego.  He said that there was a 90% chance that he will end up in the states after it is all said and done.  If he does end up back here, it will be about mid October and he will get a month long leave to come home! .  He said that he will know more specific dates soon!  He is getting bored and wishing that he was out with the guys but other than that he sounded good.  He was relieved to get some specific dates.  He told me that he appreciated all the prayers and support that you have given to me and the Brown's!  We hope to see him soon but it is all in God's hands and we KNOW that he will take care of him!  Everything will turn out for the best!  Thank you for all the support!

As most of you already know last Friday morning I got a call from Nick.  When i answered the phone I could just tell in his voice that something was not right.  He told me that he had been "blown up"  It scared me to death.  He then told me that he was ok and he had dislocated his shoulder and had some cuts and bruises.  He was so drugged up at the time that I could barely understand what was going on and if he was really ok.  He called later on that day and told me more of what had happened.  They were on a convoy and his humvee went over a IED explosion.  The front of the humvee went 50 yards in front of the vehicle and the humvee flew up five or six feet and landed in the hole made by the explosion.  The bomb went off right under Nicks seat.  It is amazing that he walked away from it.  His Battalion Commander came out to the site and told Nick, "I dont know what prayer you are praying or who you are praying to but you better keep them coming because there is no reason that you should be alive right now."  Everything around his seat was mangled and destroyed!  I am posting the pictures that he sent me of the humvee, he was sitting in the front passenger seat.  The only explanation for him walking away from this is GOD.

I have heard from him almost everyday with updates on his injuries.  They have done x-rays on his shoulder and he separated his AC joint by 2 degrees.  He also has nerve damage.  He called me yesterday morning and told me that the nerve damage was getting worse and they were taking him to get a x-ray of his spine.  After that x-ray they are taking him to Germany to the Walter Reed hospital where they will be doing a MRI, FINALLY!!  When the results come back from the MRI they will decide if he needs surgery or not.  If he does need surgery they will do it in Germany and the hopefully if everything goes good they might be sending him home for therapy and if he doesnt recuperate well then they will keep him there until he gets better.  So bascially everything is very uncertain right now, which isnt a very good feeling.  They do the surgery over in Germany because that is where the best military neuro surgeons are based.  I havent heard from him today but hope to hear soon.

Please keep Nick and I in your prayers!

Nick,

I love you so much babies...I hope that you are doing better I wish that i was there to take care of you!!  I hope to hear from you soon!  I am so proud of you angel, you are my hero!  I love you more than anything in the world!
